We are pleased to announce that Metro Central Ultrasound is offering Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening as part of our vascular imaging services.

AAA screening is a non-invasive ultrasound test that detects enlargement (aneurysm) of the abdominal aorta—the main blood vessel supplying the body. Early detection of an aneurysm can prevent life-threatening rupture and significantly reduce mortality risk.

Who Should Be Screened?

• Men and women aged 65 to 80 are eligible for a one-time ultrasound screening.
• Screening is recommended for individuals with risk factors such as:
  • History of smoking
  • High blood pressure
  • Family history of aneurysm

This screening follows the Ontario Health AAA Screening Pathway, based on Canadian and international evidence-based guidelines.

• Simple & Painless: Performed using ultrasound; no needles or radiation.
• Quick: The scan takes only a few minutes.
• Accurate: Detects early signs of aneurysm before symptoms occur.

Results are reviewed by a qualified radiologist. If any abnormality is found, your physician will receive a detailed report and recommendations for further care or referral to a vascular specialist.
